
Surrey United/BC Soccer DDC Programs
Surrey United is pleased is to announce that in conjunction with BC Soccer that we shall be hosting DDC Coaches Educational programs for our Surrey United coaches at Cloverdale Athletic Park throughout the forthcoming season. These programs will be conducted by the BCSA Technical staff and will provide our coaches with free clinics based on a wide variety of topics and themes including Grass Roots Development, Goalkeeper Training and Development (incorporating goalkeeper training in your normal practice drills), Fitness Preparation and Tactical Awareness.
After some initial set programs we shall have the opportunity to provide input for ongoing sessions that may include such topics as tactical formations, operating a back four etc.
This represents a very unique opportunity for the coaches in our club and instruction will be applicable for all levels of coaching. The four courses so far identified are detailed below:
Grass Roots
Wednesday September 22nd 2010 6.30pm to 9.00pm
Clubhouse Activities - 6.30pm to 7.30pm
On field Acivities - 7.30pm to 9.00pm
Session Content
The Grassroots Presentation is an overview of a 8 week training program
for Under 6 – Under 9’s and a 16 week training program for Under 10 –
Under 12 year old players, which was created and endorsed by BC Soccer.
This will provide a complete training curriculum for our small sided
coaches. The purpose of the Coaches Handbook is to assist our coaches in
standardizing the complete training session within the club. Whether
young players choose soccer as a lifelong sport is determined to a high
degree by the content of the training program and the enthusiam with
which it is delivered.
Goalkeeper Training & Development
Friday October 22nd 2010 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Clubhouse Activities - 6.30pm to 7.30pm
On field Acivities - 7.30pm to 8.30pm
Session Content
The Goalkeeper Training and Development presentation will include
teachings of the principals of goalkeeping, plane of glass theory (GK
Stance and set position), a focus on basic exercises for club coaches to
work with their GKs, and portions of the BC Soccer GK Diploma.
Fitness Preparation
Monday November 1st 2010 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Clubhouse Activities - 6.30pm to 7.30pm
On field Acivities - 7.30pm to 8.30pm
Session Content
The Fitness Preparation presentation will be conducted by Markus
Reinkens, BC Soccer Staff coach and CSA U16 National Team assistant
coach. The curriculum of this topic will be focused on top level fitness
testing in order to see your team's/players' overall level of
conditioning. There will be a focus on specific anaerobic and aerobic
fitness training which all youth teams will be able to utilize.
