2010 Surrey Spring Soccer Academy

AGES: 1999-2003 Boys and Girls

The Surrey Spring Training Academy will be an eight (8) session program designed to give players a training curriculum to continue their soccer development within. The sessions will be every Wednesday from May 3rd – June 23rd and will be held at Cloverdale Athletic Park.

Training curriculum

The Surrey Spring Training Academy is a skill development program that allows the young players to continue learn and test themselves in an attempt to reach all of their personal goals within the game of soccer. Training sessions will be structured around technical and tactical development and within small-sided game situations, utilizing the structure of the highly successful 3v3 program from last year.

The 8-week long program follows the developmental guidelines as laid out in the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long Term Player Development Model. 

Academy - Games Teams

Surrey United will be selecting boys and girls players from the Spring Training Academy in the 1999-2001 ages to participate in additional practices as well as a series of exhibition games/jamborees throughout the program against other club academies. Player selection into the games team will be based primarily on performance at SU 2010/11 team evaluations and also in academy sessions.

The schedule for all games is not yet finalized but there are preliminary plans to take the games group(s) on an over-night trip to Seattle (date TBA) and the trip will include going to the Seattle Sounders MLS game and then playing an exhibition game the next day against a Seattle-based club at the Starfire Complex. The game schedule will be in addition to the Wednesday night academy sessions. Games and/or additional practices may be on other days of the week; advanced notice will be given.

All players selected to the games team(s) will be expected to be available for all games. There will be an additional cost of $125, which includes additional game kit, exhibition games, ticket to Seattle Sounders game.

4:45pm-6:00pm; 2002 & 2003 boys and girls
6:00pm-7:15pm; 2000 & 2001 boys and girls
7:15pm-8:30pm; 1999 boys and girls

Registration information

Training academy registration = $90
*includes 8 training sessions and program training top).

Academy games team (if applicable) = $110
* includes additional training kit, practices/jamborees, ticket to Seattle Sounders game
* registration for games team will be done between April 28 - May 5th, 2010
