H1N1
Following the recent announcement in the press we have received many inquiries about performing the handshake ritual at the conclusion of soccer games. We need to adopt a common sense practical approach to this matter while remaining sensitive to the underlying issues and yet acknowledging our need to show good sportsmanship. We are not issuing any specific pandemic directive but feel the following represents what we consider to be best practices.
This should minimize unnecessary contact.

United nets six-pack of B.C. titles
Surrey United went into Saturday's Provincial Cup final sharing the record for most consecutive titles. Two hours later, the Cloverdale girls stood alone in record books after nabbing their sixth consecutive B.C. crown with a 2-1 win over Richmond.
"We were still pinching ourselves afterward," said Surrey striker Megan Blaker. "Yeah we've won it before and even though we were talking about winning six in a row, it was still kind of a surprise at the end. Once we actually did it, it was like, 'Whoa. Holy smokes -- six in a row is amazing. We haven't lost a playoff game in six years and that's nuts. That's absolutely nuts."
Midfielder Geri Donnelly agreed, adding, "We're all still a little stunned that we won again. It's all kind of surreal right now. When you consider all of the players we've lost over the years, six in a row is amazing.
"Even this year, we were without our two main defenders with injuries to Mylie Ross and Erin Porter, plus we lost Sadie McLure when she took a job back east. So we were without three of our four defenders and we still managed to find a way to win which is mind-boggling."
Blaker, Donnelly and Kate Qually are the only members of the team who have played in all six Provincial Cup final wins.
