2010 Surrey United Spring Programs

2010 Surrey-Guildford United Travel Teams Program

Back by popular demand - The Surrey-Guildford United Metro program is excited to offer a 2010 Travel Teams Program this spring. This 9-week program will be headed by Jeff Clarke (Surrey United Technical Director) and Sipho Sibya (Guildford Athletic Club’s Technical Director) as well as staff coaches from the SGU Metro program. The development component of the program will include 15 training sessions and 2 tournaments in Washington State, plus possible exhibition games. This program is designed to be an extension of the winter season where the players can maintain their high level of competition in the spring while also having time-off before and after the program to rest and recuperate for the 2010-2011 soccer season. OPEN DAY - PLAYER REGISTRATION FOR RECREATIONAL PLAYERS (MINI & YOUTH)

SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2010
9:00 AM – NOON at SUSC CLUBHOUSE - CLOVERDALE ATHLETIC PARK

  • Bring applicable registration form (available under “Forms & Notices”) fully completed, which includes registration fee and uniform  deposit.
  • Youth players – print and complete the “player code of conduct” form
  • Youth players - bring a copy of birth certificate & color photo

ONLY COMPLETE REGISTRATION FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED

oys District 5 Sandra Duncan Cup held at Cloverdale Athletic Park

  • Boys U/17 Gold Lions beat Guildford Rangers 4-3 in overtime in an exciting game at Cloverdale
  • Boys U/12 Gold Selects beat GAC 98 3-0 at Cloverdale

Special mentions go to:

  • Boys U/16 Strikers who lost in overtime in the final to Whalley Scorpions
  • Boys U/18 Gold who lost 2-0 in the final to GAC Arsenal

 Boys District 5 League Cup

  • Boys U/17 Saints beat North Delta Revolution 2-1 in the final at Cloverdale with the game winning goal coming in the last minute of play.
  • Boys U/13 Vikings beat Pitt meadows 1-0 in the final

Special mentions go to:

  • Boys U/14 Titans who lost 3-2 to Mission in a very close hard fought game.

Girls South District Cup Finals

  • Surrey United Firehawks won the U/12 Red District cup winners beating SBAA Jesters 1-0 in the final
  • Surrey United Flash won the U/12 Red medallion beating Guildford Blackcats 2-1 in the final
  • Surrey United Hurricane Force won the U/11 District Cup beating Whalley Wildcats 4-0 in the final 

Boys District 1 Cup

  • Boys U/12 Slam beat Whalley Whitecaps 1-0 in the final at Cloverdale on Friday
  • Boys U/11 Silver Mustangs beat Whalley Tigers in the final 3-1 at Cloverdale on Saturday

Special mentions go to:

  • Boys U/11 Chaos lost 3-0 to SFC Ravens in the final

North Delta Tournament

  • Boys U/11 Phoenix won the gold medal for their age group and division this past weekend (March 6th & 7th)

Surrey United Olympic Skating Star in the Making

Job well done to Allison Scanks, a Surrey United player, who had the honour of collecting flowers and stuffed animals during several figure skating events at the Olympics.

NOTICE RE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

In accordance with our Constitution we hereby advise our membership that Our Annual General Meeting will take place at the Clubhouse on
Monday 29th March at 6.30pm.

All positions on the Executive are up for election/re-election.
The executive comprises the following elected positions:

  • President
  • Senior Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Vice-President Adult
  • Vice President Boys Select
  • Vice President Boys Intermediate District 5 Gold & Silver
  • Vice President Boys Recreational District 5 Bronze & House
  • Vice President Boys Recreational District 1
  • Vice President Mini
  • Vice President Girls Selects
  • Vice President Girls Intermediate/Recreational
  • Vice President Fundraising/Social

All the above positions will be elected for a 2 year term

In addition we shall be seeking the election/re-election of 3 Board Of directors members.

Chevrolet Making Dreams Possible

Today, Chevrolet presented 51 Canadian community sport clubs from across Canada with a grant of $2,000 each for coach training and development activities. Since inception in 2006, Chevrolet Making Dreams Possible has donated nearly $1 million to Canadian coaches at all levels of competition. Surrey United was one of those soccer clubs selected and we thank our Secretary Lisa Finkle for her substantial efforts in coordinating our application.

2009-10 season registration forms for Mini, Boys Youth and Girls Youth are now available for download from the Forms & Notices section of the website. Please note these forms require legal size paper for printing so be sure to put legal size paper in your printer before printing the forms!

Children's Fitness Tax Credit

For all available information on the Children's Fitness Tax Credit please visit the Canada Revenue Agency website at www.cra-arc.gc.ca. This tax credit is with effect from the 2007 tax year.
