Surrey United Force Win Coastal Cup Final
Surrey
United Force beat Gorge 3-1 in an exciting Coastal Cup Final. United
took the lead after only ten minutes when they were awarded a penalty
kick and Jessica Carchesio took the shot and hammered it into the back
of the net. Surrey increased their lead ten minutes before
half-time when a fantastic corner kick from Carchesio was superbly
headed home by Tyana Harding. Surrey dominated most of the game and the
United defence was solid limiting Gorge to a limited number of shots.
However in the last 15minutes of the game Gorge surged forward in
numbers but United keeper Rebecca Harrington made two great saves to
prevent a goal and Gorge also struck the post before finally scoring
from a penalty shot. However with five minutes remaining Surrey put the
game out of reach when they were awarded another penalty kick for a
handball and Kim Dejager shot it high into the net to secure the win!
Surrey United Girls U-18 Silver A Fusion Win Classic Cup to Complete and Undefeated Season
On
Sunday April 18, the girls U-18 silver A Fusion won the Classic Cup
beating Dunbar Chaos 3-0 to successfully complete an undefeated season.
Surrey United’s U-18 Fusion came out strong with quick give and go passes setting the tempo early and kept the pressure throughout the game. The first goal came in less than 5 minutes after a corner kick from Natalie Bajkov was controlled by Saskia Vaneyk who then layed it back to Bajkov to cross the ball back into the middle where Tina Southerby colleyed it into the net for what proved to be the game winner. In the second half, United added further goals from Alannah Blouin-Summers and Kaitlyn Gibbs that Dunbar Chaos would be unable to come back from. Kelsey Rempel had an outstanding game in defence for Surrey.
