BCSPL High Performance Academy

2019/20 SUSC BCSPL High-Performance Academy - Registration is OPEN!

Program Overview

The Surrey United BCSPL High-Performance Academy (HPA) is excited to offer a development academy program for the U10-U12 (2010- 2008 born) select players in the region. This program is going into its 9th year and has produced some top players who have gone on to succeed at the BC Soccer HPP level, and also with Whitecaps FC and Canadian Soccer Association teams.

This regionally based academy is the first club-based academy of its kind in the province and is designed to service the motivated select players by creating a competitive environment that pools players with similar technical and tactical abilities under high-quality participation standards. Jeff Clarke (SUSC Technical Director) and Nick Perugini (SUSC Asst. Technical Director) will be the technical leads of the program and Nick Perugini will also be the lead instructor and will be supported by other top coaches from the Surrey United BCSPL program and club. Throughout the programming, there will be 11 aside opportunities for the participants that will take place on their off days (Boys on Sundays and Girls on Saturdays).

Just as last season, SUSC has tentatively confirmed a home-and-away travel and competition arrangement with the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club and could entertain other Alberta-based clubs. This opportunity will be mainly for 2008-born players and there will be a limited number of spaces available. Players invited for this trip will be notified via invitation (of note, there will be an additional cost associated for the trip). The time period for this will be one of the weekends between the end of November and early December. The return leg in Vancouver with Calgary Foothills SC with be in spring 2020 (March/April - TBC). More info to follow. There will be a formal parents meeting in September 2019 to discuss all program details.

**NEW**

In partnership with the EliteMultiSports Soccer programs, players within the HPA & surrounding clubs will be eligible to be invited in to take part in ACADEMY games across the lower mainland. There will be costs associated with these offerings and all will be by invitation only.

Benefits of Joining

The objective of the SU BCSPL HPA is to challenge and further develop the players’ technical and tactical levels and better prepare them for future opportunities in the SU BCSPL program and other higher-level programming such as Whitecaps FC Full-time programs and BC Soccer provincial teams. In addition to the great training environment that the academy provides there are additional opportunities where selected players can showcase themselves. (see below)

Recent Graduates of the Surrey United BCSPL HPA

Key Features

*Position Specific Training (age-appropriate)

All players will be trained in general position-specific methods and sessions. These sessions will be tailored to U10-U12 players and will be an introductory version of the heavily successful program that the SUSC BCSPL players receive.

*Player Feedback Reports

All participants will receive written progress reports at the halfway point and end of the program.

*Soccer Specific Speed and Fitness Testing

We will be hosting fitness testing similar to the testing done at the SUSC BCSPL program. The scores will be kept to measure improvement over the year(s).

*Low Coach:Player ratio

Our program will run with an approx Coach:Player ratio of 1:12. This low ratio will allow each player to receive the personal attention that is required.
