Super Soccer (Adaptive) Program
Winter 2021 Super Soccer (Adaptive) Program
Surrey United Soccer Club (SUSC) is excited to offer its Super Soccer (Adaptive) Program for U7-U14 (2007 - 2014) age-groups in the region. This program provides a barrier-free training opportunity for children to participate in a sport regardless of any obstacle that may make participation in traditional programming a challenge. This program is adapted for and focused on providing an environment specifically designed for children with physical disabilities, ADHD, FASD, OCD and other cognitive challenges.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SUSC will implement their SAFE RTP Curriculum, which will correspond with the guidelines & restrictions from ViaSport, BC Soccer and Canada Soccer. The overall program will operate within the SUSC Return to Play Plan. The SAFE RTP Curriculum will adjust with each update by ViaSport and BC Soccer. As such, full parent participation by one parent or legal guardian will be required for all sessions. This will assist us in providing the players with the maximum support necessary to adhere to social distancing requirements necessary throughout each training session.
Super Soccer Program Staff
The curriculum for this program has been developed in collaboration with Jill Crichton - Kinsight organization Coordinator for Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions; and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Program delivery is provided by Surrey United Coach, Tyler Henderson with oversight by our Technical Director. Junior Club coaches, mentees from our SUSC Mentorship Program, and other club volunteers provide further support in the delivery of this program which will include the necessary modifications necessary for each phase of play approved by BC Soccer through ViaSport and the Provincial Government in Fall 2020.
Super Soccer Program Details
This program will be open to male and female players in the U7-U14 (2007 - 2014) age-groups.
The 2021 winter phase will consist of five (5) sessions on Sundays from 10:00am–11:00pm on Turf Field #2 at Cloverdale Athletic Park beginning January 10th.
The program begins on Sunday, January 10th, see scheduling arrangement below.
Eligible Training Dates*
January 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
February, 7th, 21st, 28th (no training Family Day weekend)
Scheduling arrangement - this year we are forced to run the winter phase of the Super Soccer program outdoors due to COVID restrictions. We fully appreciate and recognize how weather and temperature can have a direct impact on the participants’ experience. Our plan will be to monitor the weather forecast and make a decision on the weekly session by Saturday morning (the day before) each weekend. We hope to complete the 5 sessions between Jan 10th - Feb 28th. If the weather cooperates for more than 5 weekends in that time frame then the Club will run additional sessions weekends (for a total of 7 sessions) as well, complimentary to the participants. The Club believes that this flexibility with scheduling and servicing is required due to the current Return to Play situation.
The program cost for this 2021 Winter program is $60.00/participant. This includes a Super Soccer Program training shirt.
