Niall Thomson

Boys U13 Intake (2010) Team 

Surrey United Soccer Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Niall Thompson as the 2010 Boys BCSPL Intakes Head Coach for the 2022-23 season.

 

In addition to his past experience as a professional soccer player, Niall has also been a long-standing coach with the club. He also has past experience with BCSPL Intakes and this experience will come in very valuable for our 2010 boys.

Frazer Toms

Head Coach

Frazer moved to Canada in 2016 and started coaching at Guildford United Athletic Club before moving over to join Surrey United Soccer Club as a Club coach. Fraser played professional soccer back home in the United Kingdom before retiring in 2003 due to a broken leg. After his playing career ended in 2003, he became a sports coach working with young children in elementary schools in the United Kingdom.

Ravi Mehan

Ravi Mehan has been coaching for the past 15 years and started working with strong mentors in the lower mainland and built his experience by coaching high level teams (metro and BCSPL programs).  At Surrey United, Ravi Mehan is a member of the development stream, and he has worked with players in the developing stages. He establishes excellent relationships with the club's members, and his knowledge of player development offers them a clear path to advancement.

  • He has been with Surrey United for the past four years and he establishes excellent relationships with the club's members, and his knowledge of player development offers them a clear path to advancement. With his commitments to the club, he is currently the coach of the Surrey United BCSPL 08 Boys team.

  • He’s been playing since he was 5-year-old. Being raised in a small community of Quesnel he was able to lead his high school team to provincials in the lower mainland region. Making the first all-star team during his high school years was a great accomplishment during this time. Playing in both the VMSL and Fraser valley leagues gave him more experience as a player. He is looking forward to working with the Surrey United Premier Team.

  • In addition to coaching and playing, he works as an educator in the Langley School District with a Degree in Science/Math and a Master’s in Leadership studies.

  • He believes that “for any skill set, always teach the “why” behind it”.

Ronan Kelly

Boys U15 (2007) Team 

  • Guided South Melbourne FC U16's to 2nd place after 8 games in the NPL

  • Coached South Melbourne FC U16's to victory over professional youth side Melbourne City FC

  • Provincial Champion with Fusion FC 02 Boys (First time in Fusion FC history on the boy’s side)

  • Provincial Runners up with Fusion FC 01 Girls

  • Two-time Coastal Cup Runners up with VFC 03 Boys

  • Two-time Metro league Runners up with VFC 03 Boys

  • Qualification for Metro Provincials with VFC 03 boys

  • Qualified for National Championships with KPU as Assistant coach (first time in KPU history)

  • Nationally ranked for the entire season with KPU as Assistant coach (first time in KPU history)

  • 2nd place finish in the Fraser Valley U’21 league with Coastal FC U21’s

  • Current SUSC Assistant Technical Director

 

Ronan has over 6 years experience of coaching at several different levels: youth, university, and adult. He achieved his Uefa B license 3 years ago and is currently completing his UEFA A license through the IFA (Irish Football Association).

Tom is currently the Head Coach of the Men's soccer program at the University of the Fraser Valley. He has led them to two Canada West final four appearances and in 2015 his squad won the Bronze medal, the highest achievement for the program to date. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Baker University (Kansas) after completing a successful career as a student athlete. He was a First-Team All Conference All Star for his junior and senior year and reached the NAIA National semi-finals ending the year with a #3 National Ranking. After graduation and completing his eligibility, Tom remained in Kansas and was an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at Baker. In 2012 he was apart of the coaching staff which took the women's program to the NAIA National Sweet Sixteen, and coached two All Americans during this time. ​

 

Tom has coached at Surrey United for over 6 years, during this time he has been an academy coach whilst also helping with our SGU Metro program and playing on the Men's Premier team, Tom currently coaches our 2003 boys and our graduating 2001 girls team. 

Tom currently holds a CSA National B License and will pursue his CSA National A License in near future.

She is well known in our club and has played on our Women’s premier team since 2008, winning multiple Provincial championships and a National Championship in 2011. In addition, Ari has been part of our technical staff since 2009 and has worked in our academies throughout that time.

Muchtar Ganief

Muchtar has been coaching youth teams at North Delta, Surdel and Surrey United for over 12 years. While at Surrey United, Muchtar became involved with the Development program and has had great team success along with developing some highly technical and skilled players for the last 6 years, most recently the Select 1 2007 boys team. He has also been on Surrey United Technical coaching staff since 2017.

Ali has previously worked with professional academies and teams and spent 8 years coaching in youth and senior level in Iran and Canada. Ali is the currently the Assistant Coach with Capilano University and also the Assistant Coach with FC.Tigers in Fraser Valley's men's soccer premier league. He holds B.S in Physical Education and Sport Science from Azad University (Tehran). Ali currently holds a CSA C & Youth National License and will start his CSA B National in May 2022.
