Park Improvement Proposal

Surrey United Soccer Club Proposes
Cloverdale Athletic Park Improvement Proposal

PRESS RELEASE - APRIL 3, 2023

After many months of planning and discussions with sponsors, lenders, construction companies, elected local, provincial and federal officials and city staff, SUSC Sporting Director Jeff Clarke and SUSC President Ali Wilkinson presented Surrey United Soccer Club’s proposed plan for Cloverdale Athletic Park upgrades to Mayor and Council on Monday, April 3, 2023. This proposal was put forward with unanimous support of the Surrey United SC Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and Operations Committee and the support of MLA, Mike Starchuk who identified in a letter to the City, that this type of project is the type targeted under the recently announced funding to the City of Surrey from the Province’s Growing Communities Fund. This proposal was developed following years of feedback from you - our members, park user groups, local residents and neighbours.

The proposed park upgrades include all of the following:

  • A new 100+ stall parking lot, off 64th avenue to the north of the gravel field

  • Multi sport, lit, turf fields covering the south and south-east grass fields behind CAP Field #3 and the gravel field

  • An approximately 38,000 sq. ft. indoor turf training facility on the south end of the gravel field

The estimated timeframe for this proposed park plan is 1-4 years. We will be holding a SUSC Member Special General Meeting once the final approval is received and will update all members on the plan to complete these exciting upgrades! East Surrey / Cloverdale has received less new field installations than all other Surrey Town Centres within the past 17 years.

Grass fields are fantastic, but they are not lit for evening training and they are closed when it rains which creates major scheduling difficulties for multiple user groups in the park. All youth sports are growing and the local community deserves a one-stop location for their children to enjoy sport - for life.
