SUDA (Surrey United Development Academy - Skills Center)

Program Details

The 2019/20 Surrey United Development Academy / Skills Center Program is a 16-session training program being offered at Surrey United SC on Monday nights on CAP #1 for boys and girls players in the U7-U14 (2006 - 2013) age-groups. This program will span over the fall/winter soccer season, starting in September and ending in February.

This academy program will be geared towards motivated players looking to advance their current skill and playing level under the guidance of the Surrey United Technical Staff.

The training curriculum will involve a broad range of skills and drills in technical/tactical development of the game including speed and agility, shooting and finishing, defending, creative attacking, etc, which will assist the players in the performances throughout their soccer season. There will also be introductory physical training and testing for the young soccer players.

Key features of the SUDA - Skills Center Program:

* Speed Development and Testing

There will be an emphasis on basic kinetic movement patterns, the speed of running with and without the ball (acceleration/deceleration). Our SUDA players will go through some simple speed tests throughout the program and the scores will be kept to measure improvement over the year(s).

* Player Assessment Report

All players completing the 2019/20 academy will receive a detailed assessment in March, which will provide them a complete report of their season progress and development.

Skills Center Training / CSA Club Licensed - We will be running a skill-based training program that will incorporate 3 key pillars of skill development:

1) Speed, Agility & Quickness and other kinetic movements related to dribbling and ball control

2) Skills & Dribbling; repetition and consistent focused activities

3) In Game Learning; creative dribbling moves can be used within our 1v1 skills games and other small-sided game components of our curriculum.

The training will be station-based and will follow a comprehensive and progressive program. There will also be an inductive approach to teaching, which will allow players some ‘open training time’ designed to spur highly creativity and enjoyment with learning the game.

The curriculum for the Skills Center Training will compliment the SUSC Coach and Team Development curriculum and program and is supported by the NEW CSA CHILDRENS License curriculum

* NEW * FREE PLAY

Before and or after each session, players will be able to utilize the designated field space, equipment and just go out on field and organize and play what they want and how they want. We are excited to be able to allocate field and equipment resources towards this initiative as we are firm believers that FREE PLAY is an important part of every players development pathway. (There will be a designated staff coach overseeing all the activity).
