Goalkeeper Training Academy
2020 / 21 Goalkeeper Training Academy
Goalkeeper Training Academy Program Overview
The 2020/21 Surrey United Goalkeeping Academy will be held on Monday evenings on CAP #1 beginning September 21, 2020. This program includes 16 weeks of training sessions. The curriculum for this program is structured to consistently test and challenge all goalkeepers and give them the technical focus and instruction required for success within the position.
This program is open to all goalkeepers or aspiring goalkeepers in the 2003 - 2012 ages. In addition to regular, weekly training sessions, participants will be provided with opportunities throughout the program to participate in the Surrey United SUDA MAX and BCSPL HPA Academies for additional exposure and training in shot-stopping, drills, and game situations.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SUSC will implement its SAFE RTP Curriculum, which will correspond with the guidelines & restrictions from ViaSport, BC Soccer, and Canada Soccer. The overall program will operate within the SUSC Return to Play Plan. The SAFE RTP Curriculum will adjust with each update by ViaSport and BC Soccer. Further details provided below.
Our Goalkeeper Training Academy Head Instructor is Tyler Baldock. Tyler is a graduate of Carson-Newman College in Tennessee and played with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC from 2007-2009. In addition to being SUSC’s Head Goalkeeper Instructor; Tyler has also been the Head Goalkeeping Coach for the SFU Men’s Varsity Team since 2014. He has coached goalkeepers for over 12 years in Surrey and the Lower Mainland and is thrilled to continue working with Surrey United’s young goalkeeper prospects again this season.
