Speed & Quickness Program
Program Description
Surrey United Soccer Club is proud to offer the Speed & Quickness Program, an introductory running and movement development course for athletes born between 2012 and 2018. Designed to complement the kinetic demands of all sports, this program helps young athletes build a strong foundation in speed, agility, and biomechanics.
Delivered in partnership with EMSP, our trusted multi-sport service provider, the program is ideal for athletes across various disciplines looking to enhance their overall athleticism.
Our Head Instructor is Ron Loewen as a result of our strategic partnership with Thunderbirds Track Club, delivering exceptional physical literacy sessions for our athletes. On field instruction includes our certified club coaches.
What Athletes Will Learn
Sessions are tailored to age and ability, with a focus on:
-
Acceleration and deceleration
-
Quickness and agility
-
Power and weight transfer in sprinting
-
Running form and biomechanics (correcting style and efficiency
Program Philosophy
This is not a conditioning program. The emphasis is on quality over quantity—developing proper technique and movement efficiency rather than pushing athletes to fatigue.
Attendance & Commitment
We understand that young athletes often juggle multiple activities.
While attendance is flexible, there is a clear link between consistent
participation and measurable improvement. The more sessions an
athlete attends, the greater the benefit.
This is an individual development program, and families are
encouraged to determine the level of commitment that best suits
their schedule and goals.
Whether your child plays soccer, basketball, or any other sport, the
Speed & Quickness Program offers a valuable opportunity to build
athletic fundamentals that translate across the field, court, or track.
