Speed & Quickness Program

Program Description

Help your child build speed, agility, and confidence! This fun,

introductory running program is designed to support athletes

of all sports by focusing on proper movement and mechanics.

The SUSC Speed & Quickness Program is an introductory

running program for athletes born between 2009 to 2012.

It’s designed to complement the movement style and overall

skill set of athletes across all sports. The program is delivered

in partnership with EMSP, our multi‑sport service provider.

Training will be led by the SUSC Athletics Team — Wasif Hussein,

Paul Buckingham, and Ron Loewen — all certified trainers with

extensive backgrounds in Track & Field and athletic development.

What Athletes Will Learn

Sessions are tailored to age and ability, with a focus on:

Acceleration and deceleration
Quickness and agility
Power and weight transfer in sprinting
Running form and biomechanics (correcting style and efficiency

Program Philosophy

This is not a conditioning program. The emphasis is on quality over quantity — developing proper technique and mechanics rather than pushing athletes to fatigue. We recognize that children often balance many activities. While attendance is flexible, consistent participation has a strong correlation with improvement. The more sessions athletes attend, the greater the benefit they’ll see. This is an individual sport and investment, so families can decide the level of commitment that works best. Sessions will run rain or shine.
