At Surrey United Soccer Club, player development is more than just training sessions and matches. It is a journey that begins with a child's very first kick and grows into a lifelong passion for the sport. The club’s commitment to nurturing players from their earliest days in mini soccer through to adult competition creates a unique environment where every player feels valued, motivated, and inspired to keep coming back season after season.

With the upcoming Fall/Winter 2026-27 season, Surrey United is proud to introduce new facilities that will enhance this journey. The addition of a covered turf training facility and two new outdoor turf fields at Cloverdale Athletic Park marks a significant step forward in supporting player growth at all levels.

A Club That Grows With You

Surrey United stands out as a true “child to adult” club. This means players can start as young as under-6 (U6) and continue playing competitively well into adulthood without needing to switch clubs. This continuity builds strong community ties and fosters a deep connection to the club.

The club’s philosophy centers on creating a fun, inclusive, and inspiring environment. Coaches and staff focus on developing not only technical skills but also a love for the game. This approach encourages players to return year after year, building confidence and friendships along the way.

New Facilities to Support Player Development

The new covered turf training facility and outdoor fields at Cloverdale Athletic Park offer several advantages:

  • FIFA-approved turf surface suitable for all levels of play ensures consistent quality and safety.

  • A 70-yard by 42-yard training area allows full-team sessions and diverse drills.

  • Comprehensive training equipment supports both technical skills and physical conditioning.

  • Dedicated meeting spaces provide room for team planning, education, and strategy discussions.

  • Comfortable viewing areas make it easier for parents to support their children during training and games.

  • Flexible-use rooms accommodate team gatherings, birthday celebrations, and other club events.

  • Multi-sport training zones encourage athletic development beyond soccer, helping players improve overall fitness and coordination.

For the Fall/Winter 2026-27 season, the U6 and U7 age groups will train exclusively indoors in the new facility. Older youth players will have access to a minimum number of indoor training sessions, with fees reflecting this setup.

Building Skills From the Ground Up

Player development at Surrey United is carefully structured to match the needs of each age group:

  • Mini Soccer (U6 and U7)

Training focuses on basic ball control, coordination, and having fun. The indoor facility provides a safe, weather-proof environment where young players can develop fundamental skills without distractions and begin to foster a sense of pride, self confidence and overall belonging.

  • Youth Development (U8 to U18)

As players grow, training becomes more focused on technical skills, tactical understanding, and physical fitness. Volunteer Coaches under the guidance and tutelage of professional, certified club coaches use the many fields and SUSC facilities to run full-team drills and scrimmages that simulate real game situations.

  • Adult Competition

For players continuing into adult leagues, the club offers competitive opportunities and advanced training to maintain and improve their skills. Soccer for Life is our goal!

Creating a Supportive Community

Surrey United’s commitment goes beyond the field. The club fosters a welcoming atmosphere where players, families, and coaches form lasting relationships. The new facilities include spaces designed for social interaction, such as viewing areas and multi-purpose rooms, which help build a strong sense of community.

Parents can watch practices comfortably, and teams can celebrate milestones together. This social support plays a crucial role in keeping players engaged and motivated.

Practical Benefits of the New Facilities

The covered turf training facility offers practical advantages that improve the overall player experience:

  • Weather Protection

Training continues uninterrupted regardless of rain, snow, or extreme temperatures.

  • Consistent Playing Surface

Turf field allows players to practice on a surface similar to other competitive fields.

  • Enhanced Training Options

Access to specialized equipment and multi-sport zones helps players develop agility, strength, and coordination.

  • Flexible Scheduling

Indoor space availability allows for more consistent training times, accommodating busy family schedules and alleviating driving to various locations for multiple children.

How Surrey United Supports Lifelong Passion

The club’s approach ensures that soccer remains enjoyable and rewarding at every stage. By providing quality facilities, skilled coaching, and a supportive community, Surrey United helps players build skills and confidence that last a lifetime.

Many players who start in mini soccer continue with the club into their adult years, some even becoming coaches or volunteers themselves. This cycle strengthens the club and keeps the passion for soccer alive across generations.

Getting Involved

If you are considering joining Surrey United or returning for the Fall/Winter 2026-27 season, the new facilities and player development programs offer a compelling reason to get involved. Whether your child is taking their first kick or you are looking for competitive adult soccer, Surrey United provides a welcoming place to grow and enjoy the game.
