Spring Goalkeeper Academy Program
Spring Goalkeeper Academy Program
COVID-19 restrictions related to gathering have an impact on field times and the number of players in any program. PROGRAM TIMES AND FIELD LOCATIONS ARE TENTATIVE AT THIS TIME AND WILL BE CONFIRMED BY THE END OF FEBRUARY ONCE FIELD ALLOCATIONS ARE FINALIZED THROUGH THE CITY OF SURREY.
Surrey United Soccer Club prides itself on its focus on player development, enjoyment, and advancement. All SUSC Academy programming provides accessibility to players of all skill levels and experience in the sport. The objective of our academy programs includes a personalized skill development approach, that sets out to boost and maximize each participant’s self-confidence, enjoyment, technical skills, vision, and awareness, and overall understanding of the game. The curriculum for the Spring Goalkeeper Training Academy program is structured to consistently test and challenge all goalkeepers and give them the technical focus and instruction required for success within the position.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SUSC will implement its SAFE RTP Curriculum,
which will correspond with the guidelines & restrictions from ViaSport, BC Soccer,
and Canada Soccer. The overall program will operate within the SUSC Return to
Play Plan. The SAFE RTP Curriculum will adjust with each update by ViaSport and
BC Soccer. Further details provided below.
Our Goalkeeper Training Academy Head Instructor is Tyler Baldock. Tyler is a
graduate of Carson-Newman College in Tennessee and played with the Vancouver
Whitecaps FC from 2007-2009. In addition to being SUSC’s Head Goalkeeper
Instructor; Tyler has also been the Head Goalkeeping Coach for the SFU Men’s
Varsity Team since 2014. He has coached goalkeepers for over 12 years in Surrey
and the Lower Mainland and is thrilled to continue working with Surrey United’s
young goalkeeper prospects again this season.
There will be limited registrations accepted into this year’s program to meet social
gathering restrictions and limited field resources. This means we will be able to
accommodate fewer participants than we have in previous years. Interested
participants are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment.
Surrey United Soccer Club will be offering goalkeeper training at this year’s spring
