Spring Player Development Academy

Spring Player Development Academy

Program Overview

The Surrey United Spring Academy will be an eight (8) session program

designed to give U6-U11 (2012 – 2017 born) players a training curriculum to

continue their soccer development throughout the spring season. The

training sessions will be held on Mondays and Fridays (depending on

birth year, see further information below).

Surrey United Soccer Club prides itself on its focus on individual player

development, enjoyment, and advancement. Our player academy programs

provide access to individualized training for players of all skill levels and

experience in the sport. The objective of our academy programs is a personalized skill development approach, that sets out to maximize each player’s individual self-confidence, enjoyment of the sport, technical skills, vision and awareness, and overall understanding of the game.

Our player academy training curriculums include a broad range of both technical and tactical drills and skill development, speed and agility training, shooting and finishing, techniques of defending, creative attacking, scrimmage and game opportunities, and more. Each curriculum is developed from guidelines of the Learn to Play pathway and Canada Soccer’s Youth and Children’s License philosophies and is tailored to meet the needs of the individual players throughout the duration of the program.

Our players academy programs are led by our top club technical team led by our SUSC Sporting Director Jeff Clarke, SUSC Technical Director Troye Flanne and SUSC Assistant Technical Director Ronan Kelly. Graduating SUSC player academy players include both WCFC residency players and REX players: Girls – Aleisha Ganief, Mikayla Tupper, Daniella Ramirez, Amanda Clauzel, Ireland Cox, & Keira Martin and Boys – Matteo Campagna, Jay Herdman, Joel Demian and Simon Colyn (17 years-old who has gone on to play with the Whitecaps FC MLS team), Christopher Torressan, Jordan Fehlhaber, and AJ Twells.

In addition to making our player academy programs accessible to all, the Surrey United Player Academy Programs are extremely affordable in comparison to many other player academy programs and similar training programs in other sports.  SUSC is proud to be able to support all interested players throughout the community with a wide range of programs that provides accessibility for all players of any level of play that wish to participate in or learn more about the sport of soccer.

Registration will remain open for all spring 2023 player academy programs until capacity is reached. Interested participants are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment. Program sessions days and times are subject to final field allocations from the City of Surrey in late March.
