Spring Development Academy

Spring Development Academy

COVID-19 restrictions related to gathering have an impact on field times and the number of players in any program. PROGRAM TIMES AND FIELD LOCATIONS ARE TENTATIVE AT THIS TIME AND WILL BE CONFIRMED BY THE END OF FEBRUARY ONCE FIELD ALLOCATIONS ARE FINALIZED THROUGH THE CITY OF SURREY.

Program Overview

The Surrey United Spring Academy will be an eight (8) session program designed to give 2010 – 2015 born players a training curriculum to continue their soccer development throughout the spring season. The training sessions will be held on Mondays and Fridays (depending on age, see below).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SUSC will implement their SAFE RTP Curriculum, which will correspond with the guidelines & restrictions from ViaSport, BC Soccer, and Canada Soccer. The overall program will operate within the SUSC Return to Play Plan. The SAFE RTP Curriculum will adjust with each update by ViaSport and BC Soccer.

Surrey United Soccer Club prides itself on its focus on player development,

enjoyment, and advancement. Our academy programming provides

accessibility to players of all skill levels and experience in the sport. The

objective of our academy programs includes a personalized skill

development approach, that sets out to boost and maximize each

participant’s self-confidence, enjoyment, technical skills, vision, and

awareness, and overall understanding of the game.

Our academy training curriculums include a broad range of both technical

and tactical drills and skill development, speed and agility training, shooting

and finishing, techniques of defending, creative attacking, and more. Each

curriculum  is developed from the guidelines of the Learn to Play pathway

and Canada Soccer’s Youth and Children’s License philosophies and is

tailored to meet the needs of the participants in each training pod.

Our academies are led by our top technical team led by our SUSC Technical Director Jeff Clarke and SUSC Assistant Technicals Directors Ari Adams and Liam Carter. Graduating SUSC Academy players include both WCFC residency players and REX players: Girls – Aleisha Ganief, Mikayla Tupper, Daniella Ramirez, Amanda Clauzel, Ireland Cox, & Keira Martin and Boys – Matteo Campagna, Jay Herdman, Joel Demian and Simon Colyn (17 years-old who has gone on to play with the Whitecaps FC MLS team), Christopher Torressan, Jordan Fehlhaber, and AJ Twells.

In addition to making all programs accessible to all, the Surrey United Spring and Fall (SUDA MAX) Academy Programs are extremely affordable in comparison to many other soccer academy programs and training programs in other sports.  SUSC is proud to be able to support all interested players in the community to provide accessibility for all that wish to participate.

There will be limited registrations accepted into this year’s program to meet social gathering restrictions and limited field resources. This means we will be able to accommodate fewer participants than we have in previous years. Interested participants are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment.
