Community Division
There will be enhanced technical oversight & support for players and the teams’ volunteer coaches in the U8-U10 Community Division Program this season. We will continue to accept registrations from all interested participants to the sport so as many children as possible can play soccer and feel comfortable learning the game at a young age. The base player registration fee covers this program with no additional select program costs.
Players will be monitored of their progress throughout the season and may have the opportunity to be invited out to additional development sessions.
The Community Division Program is led by volunteer parent coach(es) and includes:
-
1 weekly team practice
-
1 weekend game
The SUSC Player Academy Program (SUDA) is not included in the community stream program and is an optional academy program for community players - led by SUSC’s Technical Coaches. Registration for optional player academies will be online in early August.
Development Division
The U8-U10 Development Division Program is a “pod” structure to align with the requirements of Canada Soccer. All development players within a given age group will train together in a group. Players at times will be mixed allowing them to play with different players and be coached by different coaches. This allows for more fluidity between teams within the club. There is an additional cost for this program which is in addition to the Player Base Registration Fee for the season.
The Development Division Program is led by professionally certified SUSC Coaches with the support of volunteer parent coaches and includes:
-
1 Weekly ‘pod’ Practice
-
1 SUDA Academy Session (included in the program fee)
-
1 Weekend Game
The placement of players will be determined by the on-going / year-long player assessment process implemented and led by SUSC technical staff. All players who have participated in any SUSC season play, academy or camp in the last 12 months will have been identified and assessed within the club’s player assessment database. SUSC will still endeavor to place all players at the proper level of play for them to maximize their enjoyment, improvement and confidence in the sport and their experience in our mini program.
SUSC is very excited about the SUSC mini program and our continued Canada Soccer National License and Skill Center implementation. We continue to solicit feedback from the past year’s participants, and with our own experiences as staff coaches/technical leads we are confident we have managed our expectations and aligned our program with the Canada Soccer Skill Centre Guidelines.
